What are
Training Courses?

Associazione P.E.CO. promotes training courses on non-formal education, intercultural learning, international mobility and project management for the organisation of socio-cultural projects in Italy and abroad.

The training courses are destination training courses financed by Key Action 1 of the ‘Erasmus Plus’ programme of the Culture and Education Agency of the European Union and include a very intensive programme of activities aimed at improving the quality of the work of youth organisations and their operators. The aim of the training courses is mainly to provide participants with all the necessary tools to organise and manage mobility projects in an international context independently.

How do Training Courses
Work

Training courses are projects that last up to a maximum of 10 days and are aimed at leaders of youth organisations as well as educators, youth leaders and youth workers. For this reason, there are no age limits for participating in a training course: even those over 30 can take part. Training courses are the main tool used to disseminate good practices tested by an organisation that wants to share the results. Training course activities make use of the principles and methods of non-formal education and aim to improve the knowledge, skills and competences of participants. As well as being a learning opportunity, training courses are an excellent way of getting to know new organisations and establishing new international partnerships within the Erasmus Plus programme.

Differences between a Youth Exchange and a Training Course

The difference between a training course and an international exchange is considerable: apart from the age of the participants (which is much younger in international exchanges), in international exchanges a great deal of time is devoted to socialising, whereas in training courses it is the training activity, i.e. the level of quality and content, that occupies most of the time.

Reimbursements are also different from those in international exchanges: the budget per person dedicated to covering travel costs is higher and there may be a participation fee in addition to the travel costs.

Alice

“Taking part in a training course about good practices in the non formal education field literally switched my perspective on how to deal with young people. Being a youth worker, it is crucial for my professional development to keep up-to-date on new methodologies and practices to guarantee the best experience to the youngsters that participate in local and international activities.”
